Never Follow Me Dear

Never Follow Me Dear

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

. it is lovely, it is treacherous .

"

acted out in abstract
pandering to the faux
positively pleasant
    plans beforehand

from great distance
(no one can save you)
and then up close

upon the river

"if it bleeds, we can kill it"

and on the mountain

if he falls, we do keep going

so maybe yes then? ( most are baggage )
lost in an abstract life
dead in a real fake place

unfit for the truly deadly spaces

none the less. . .
        some will make it
        proudly
losing vacation days
        pretending victory
no worse for his wear
       (one rarely comes back) again

this life is costly
