side by side

this is about the inequality that is in the world...

side by side,

we live side by side..

i try to see life from your side...

but i cant..

 

the only thing i see

is inequality..

while i live i total poverty

you live in complete luxury

 

while i struggle to find

what to feed my family..

you are planning on what your

pet dog will have for it's fourth meal

 

while i scrap my pot for the leftovers

from yesterday's lunch/supper

to feed my self before setting off

to search for the day's food..

your emptying your pans of leftovers from

yesterday's dinner.

 

thats life, i still live

and you still live...

as i count how many years

 to my 40th birthday

you are counting how many

years to your 80th

 

as i pray for the miraculous cure

of my child's illness...(on local herbs)

your's is down on a sickbed..

with all the facilities available

 

but all in all, am not angry

am still happy, i live life just like anyone..

am happy because i go to bed and

be able to wake up...

but you are not happy, the day when you

receive less money than you expected

from your business, you curse life..

 

the only question i have..

 why is the world so unequal?

inequality prevails everywhere,

in every single system...

but i still smile.. no matter what.

I agree, and I have learned in my days to give, even when i hold little. I love this and the message behind it. There are impoverished people all over the world. I went, Sunday, from volunteering at a local food bank, handing out holiday baskets, to my church where we packed 15000 rice and lentil meals for the Dominican Republic. From local to around the world there are people in need and if everyone would give a little, the face of hunger would change.........
