Last Train Home

Last Train Home

A Poem by Czar Lyrus
"

A sonnet inspired by a song of the same name...

"

For nearly forty years I have waited

An old star settin’ in the sky, alone

Some might say I’m a little outdated

Oh, but I say I’m just gettin’ on home

I’ll be watchin’ for that tower of steam

The train’s soft clatterin’ on those old tracks

Comin’ ‘round the bend with a slight careem

This train’ll be takin’ me home at last

After long hours I’ll be packin’ ‘way

I don care if no one remembers me

‘Cause I’ll be long gone ‘n happy ‘n May

In that little cabin is where I’ll be

If ‘nyone reads ‘bout me in some old tome

They’ll know that I had caught that last train home

Very nice. It's a great little peace with nice rhythm. It has a unique feel and one that is different from your other poetry. You have definite skill in Iambic Pentameter. You had nice imagery and a fantastic ending. I love your versatility as a writer. Keep up the good work and I want to see a lot more from you!
