you oughta stop it

you oughta stop it

A Poem by manchilld99

why ‘on’t you stop?

hip-hop music ain’t yo callin’

you runnin’ round talking ‘bout ballin’

you ain’t never even been nowhere

you what we used to call a real square

i think you oughta quit it

cease and desist

talkin’ ‘bout gangstas and wankstas

you li’l know-nothin’ lyrical prankster

talkin’ ‘bout carryin’ glocks?

you and your crew sprayin’ the blocks?

negro please … I don’t believe you

you oughta dig yourself

from mamie smith to reverend run and them boys

we made world renown music outta ghetto noise

but come to you something’s gone wrong

my, my, my what you done to our song.

this is getting serious.

how ‘bout you try this?

stop rappin’ ‘bout ill-gotten gain

cause you causin’ us all too much pain

if pennies was water please try and explain

would you even have enough to make it rain?

no?  i thought not

now don’t get me wrong

it’s not that I  think that you‘re no good

you’re the latest and greatest of our blood.

and since it was us who missed showing you right,

let’s start over together, right here tonight.

we can do this

i said you oughta stop it …

but you know what, too?

we need to start doin’ better by you.

and if I try to take you down the wrong way

i already told you all you have to say

you oughta stop it
