My darkest Valentine

 

Black tears

Fall on the broken, lifeless rose

you gave me last Valentines day

The day that, in my mind,

Has been forever tainted gray

 

I kept that dear rose

To remind me of the only bright time in my life

But that time soon died

And with it, wilts the rose

 

It was all an act

The way you used to make me feel

All useless butterlies

Make me sick now!

 

It was a set up

To take my heart higher

Higher,

HIGHER STILL!

 

Well...

You know what they say,

The higher you get,

The harder you FALL!

 

 

Even now, long year later

I'm still picking up the shattered remains of my heart

All my fondest memories

Now fill me with grief

Drained of life and color

Much like my beautifully tormenting rose 

 

And that is why, my dear,

You are and always shall be

My darkest valentine...

I see a dry, brown rose with backrounds of gray and deep red and dark shadows.
This reminds me of Dead Flowers by Miranda Lambert :) you should look it up
