Have You Seen Her?

Have You Seen Her?

A by James Takeo Panton
"

Just some descriptive narrative....

"

Have you seen my friend? Have you seen her?

How she languishes luxuriously across the room she occupies? How many have lived to tell the tale of the darkness and brightness of the world that exists in her burning eyes? Don’t let the slightest of discriminating glances fool you....you may sense that inner strength that exists there, like a gentle Valkyrie that descends down from the heavens and sweeps you up within her wings, but you will NEVER understand it.....

I know of the fragility that lies beneath that exterior...when the armour she adorns is removed, you see the softened heart that resides within....that tempestuous passion that is her soul and her surroundings and creates the centre of attention; it only hides the softness that is within....

That strength of being that encompasses and envelops all that are near her, and the smile that shown ever so slightly betrays the little girl that still remains after the madness is gone....her strength is her vulnerability that is shown to none but the chosen few, for us lesser mortals would not understand the greatness that occupies within her softness…

She has the soul of the poets of the ages, where all things that occur in the mortal coil of life becomes simplified to comedy or tragedy and nothing more....such neat little packages of philosophy and meaning that only seem to exist in the slightest of gestures that she employs....

All men should view her with adoration and terror as she makes her way into the spaces she glides across...the maddening crowds of the parties and soirees...the insanity of the simple trappings and doings of life itself cannot be matched or overwhelmed by her simple sly smile...

.

Who am I to be so lucky to encounter this woman? And to call her friend, when my heart longed for one in my darkest hours? She has found the calm within the chaos of all things, except within herself....

I liek that you submitted this for the competition because the aim is to define a character, and you've portrayed the character of the woman being described and then the obvious admiration in the narrative character- very well done on this piece and good luck! :) I like your description- you use intricate words in the right places and context, as opposed to some people who just put them in because they think it will make it sound better even if they don't know the meaning! Sounds bizarre, but happens more often then you think- well done though! :) xx
