The Holocaust

It's a poem based on the gas chambers during the holocaust from the perspective of an innocent little boy with his mother

"It's Snowing!

Mommy, it's snowing!"

But it doesn't snow

Indoors

"Mommy,

Why does the snow

Burn?"

She can't

Or won't answer

"Stop it, No!

 ... Why are we melting?"

Salt water

Pouring down every face
Is the hopeless

Response

 

 

"This isn't snow."
"Darling, it's not."

That's what she says
As her lips

Leave her face

 

Silence reins supreme

No more mommy

Or little boy

And no other

 Little boy

 Heeded
His many screams

I had to double check, and make sure that I was still reading your poetry. This is an extreme jump from the few I have read. What a wonderful surprise! This poem is INTENSE! And having drawn this sort of imagery to express the sadness of the holocaust...is genius!

yup it's all me :-) this one is more recent I wrote it three years ago when I was a freshman. I wrote it during history class while watching the movie the boy in striped pajamas. absolutely heartbreaking movie. have you seen it?

The death in the gas chambers must of been more then terrible. They combine two chemical causing a slow and terrible death. The poem is sad. It is terrible how man could torture woman and children. Thank you for sharing the powerful poem. I saw the death camps and I have photos. 32 years after the chambers were closed down. You could still smell the hair burning.

I think John that many should realize that I am a shocking writer. I want to shock people to interest them and in the end I think thats the way it should be. I'm not normally an in the face type of person but when I write I will never constrict myself. I will not have reserve when I write for if I did then the stupidity of the world would leak into my sould. and that is something I think is unforgiveable.
