Peace

Peace

A Poem by Quinn W

I long for the days when people accept the difference of others.
When opposing religions won't matter, for we are brothers.

I long for the days when there are no suicide bombers.
And no murderous and psychotic Dahmer's.

I long for the days when mass shooting don't happen.
When emotions don't drive people to pull the grenade pin.

I long for the days when sexual orientation doesn't matter.
And the LGBT+ community doesn't feel like they'll be battered.

I long for the days when people are not offended by gender
or how a person expresses it and that these people don't need a defender.

I long for the days when there is peace
and the violence and hate in our world will cease.

The Café’s bard lays down a potent theme,
we know that it's worthwhile (or something grand.)
The fire it sets with this one makes it seem
another super verse is at our hand.

The need to separate us drives the theme
to oil, water, ashes and the like,
all heaped into a pile by the stream.
Wave the banner of division and then strike,

We might well self-conflagurate in time.
But there's no chance of going up in flames.--
Some wallow in such thoughts and other grime,
With memories of past conniving games,

It takes more fuel than just a starting blast,
to chain the dogs of war into the past.
