The problem with forever

The problem with forever

A Story by Roch Ketchum

Sometimes, forever seems a bit too much to hope for, bit too much to look out for; too dark to see and too hard to believe. It's just a hypothetical concept introduced by people, which you used. You said,"I'll be with you forever". But the problem with forever is, it's too long and people rarely stay. You were no exception. Carrying the world in those blue eyes, you were the life and the fuel keeping me alive. We made castles in the sands of time, down near the water where the sand was sticky and pliable; of dreams unscathed and songs unsung. The blue jays surrounded us in the field where the sunlight filled your cascading auburn hairs and the butterflies danced among those fuchsias and violets, of which you smelled; then, now and forever. You carried me way above those dark clouds and made me see the world like it was, the epitome of beauty. You were sunshine, ambition and strong coffee; everything good in my life. But just like it happens, forever was too big a concept to stay for, too in the future to wait for. You scattered forever into bits of infinity and left, never to return. You turned forever to infinity; you possessed me, you obsessed me.

Each day you took me a step towards forever, and then one day.....

You became my infinity.

This idea is a good idea to write about. When you mention infinity a thought that came to my mind is an infinity ring. Infinity ring represents eternity. It can be given in a romantic relationship or a friendship relationship. Usually it is for a romantic couple but with a lot of the failing relationships I wonder if there is a point. The question is there such thing a eternal and everlasting love. I wonder if the non romantic love between friends is more likely to be eternal that romantic love.

What I also remembered was that I heard someone once say to me that the human species is not a monogamous species. That the human species is not made to be monogamous. When I read this and think of these questions that went through my head, is what that person told me true or it is not true. Maybe the human species is both but it depends what path you go down.

There is everlasting and eternal love but how many people are capable of it? There are people who still are in love with each other but might end the relationship and the cause is not cheating.

This can lead to a philosophical and a psychology thinking. I think a great article is when it gets you thinking and asking questions. Great job.

Sorry if this is long and it seems jumbled.

I agree with your logic.
"Each day you took me a step towards forever, and then one day.....
You became my infinity."
Sometime life is just seconds, hours and days. We need to enjoy each day of life. I like the flow of thoughts leading to very good ending. You are a very good writer. Easy to understand and grasp. Your stories and poetry. Worthwhile to read. Thank you for sharing the outstanding story.

Yet another astounding story! It might just be me, but I feel like infinity is a good thing in a way. It's still really good and touching. Good work
