Dear Dad

Dear Dad

A Poem by Saint No-One
"

For Craig Edward Greathouse

"
Dear dad,
I hope you're doing alright
Even though you're no longer part of my life.
This is what,
My fifth father's day without a dad?
I could make it up, pretend I'm sad,
Truth is, I'm better off without you man.
Ag of eighteen,
All The successes I've seen,
Top of my class,
A valedictorian,
Delivered a speech
To a standing ovation.
I'm headed to Irvine
If you cared to ask.
Truth is, you don't really give a f**k,
Right dad?
I hope you're doing alright in recovery,
I'm clocking in five months in NA.
I guess mistakes like yours
Tend to run in the family.
I'd like to say I'm not bitter
About how you hurt us.
But here's the thing dad,
The truth can be ruthless.
Despite it, I really hope you're okay,
So you can see me
From a distance
Succeeding each day,
And know in your heart,
It's despite not because,
Of a father
Who left for is crutch.
So yeah man,
I hope that you're out of the bottle someday.
So you can see clearly,
The mistake that you made.
