Trust Issues

Trust Issues

A Poem by C.C. Marx
"

the struggle to trust people these days, the struggle to know they won't betray you

"
Censoring my words
For certain prying ears
How can I be sure
Betrayal wont repeat itself
Some secrets
Aren't meant to be heard
And definitely not
Spread around
Things have a habit
Of coming full circle
Numerous times
It's come back to bite me
I try to stay
Within my own boundaries
Avoid lines
Not meant to be crossed
But if my foot
Steps over that line
How can I be sure
Your standards aren't double
Suspicious of everyone
Trusting no one.

I don't trust certain people for jack s**t. They have the nerve to spread things around when they don't know what your life is like. I loved reading this. I can relate, but I think everyone has trust issues to a point. I mean what are people saying about you behind closed doors? That's what goes around in your mind. Thanks for sharing. :D

Its so hard to build or try to trust when all you have experienced has been deceit but this is good and bad for now days everyone just about it seems to have a agenda or scheme to get over on you nice read here as always keep writing

I feel like this a lot...especially here. In my day to day life I am very careful with whom I have a conversation, very careful of the things I reveal, and yet on here, I am so very open and trusting...I often marvel at the things I say and to whom I say them, thinking, "Really? Did that just come from ME?" *laugh* Thank you so much for posting this.

I can so relate to this! Being afraid that you've said the wrong thing, or that someone will hear what you've said and be offended :S Anyway I really like the rythm of your poem - that it sounds kind of choppy if you pause after every verse - because it reflects the fearjumpy suspicion of the poem very well :)
Keep up the good work! :)

Trust is the hardest thing. This fear, which I share, is so impounding!

Exactly I fear betrayal so I choose not to trust
it really is hard to trust people nowadays. Some people smile in your face and as soon as you turn your back, they stab it. Very poetic, dripping of betrayal's sour poison.

I can relate to this. So many people in this world will sell you down the river without hesitating. It's hard to trust anyone these days. It almost seems it's human nature, which is a sad thought indeed. Great write!

Very true. Maybe it's best to not have any secrets in the first place and truely be only yourrself no matter what. Thorugh my experiences it helps and those who attack you run when rebuttled with perfect sense instead of gossip or lies. ^.< Nice write!

That line is really temperamental, knowing who to trust is a dichotomy in and of itself, then when you think you've got it figured out, it can punch you in the face! Nice write...trust issues, don't even get me started ;)

I like this. I think it's a very relevant piece, these days. There are very few people who are trustworthy, and the more you say, the more can be held against you with or without you knowing it. Well done!
