Outsider

Outsider

A Poem by Alice Maria

I am an outsider,
Staring at the inside,
Longing to be one of them,
Striving to fit in.

I am lost on my own
With nowhere to go,
With nothing to see,
With no one beside me.

Oh! how I long to fit in
How I wish to be on the inside,
Yet I sit sad and alone,
On the outside,
On my own.

Thank you so much
Uau! the way you put it is beautiful...
thinking of it... I suppose we all are in some way in any time "outsiders" trying to fit in and at the same time in some way in any time "insiders" trying to get free! and from the inside or from the outside we are always really on our own... i think!

I never thought about it that way. Thankyou so much.
straight forward no nonsense poetry .. touches the memories of loneliness I use to feel ...those can be so very tough times to get through ... funny thing how monks and other holy types seek out that solitude; and we, who yearn for companionship, despise it; bemoaning our wretched state ... well said says i! ;)

Thankyou so much.
I can truly relate....
But I have given up trying to fit in and just be myself.
Great work, Alice..

My pleasure...
Very much relatable. All of us long to 'fit in', but sometimes it's better to stand alone, we find our true selves, discover our abilities, get to know things about ourselves which were quite unknown to us. Different is striking. I truly understand the emotions behind this poem of ours. I really enjoyed reading it. Keep writing!

You don't need them. Trust me, you don't. Fitting in is way overrated.

I want to believe you, but everyone who fits in seems so happy.

You can be happy without fitting in with them... if they don't see your worth, then you're better of.. read more

Thank you. I'll keep trying.
Nice philosophical depth, I think all poets should write self analyzing poems as it helps broaden their prospective and understanding of others. Nicely done Standing Ovation! I give it five out of five Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

Thank you. I free myself when I write. It is the only time I feel like I know what to do.
Great piece and I understand your pain but from one outsider to another, you find your true self outside form the crowd and that is so liberating. Keep your head up. Darling.

Thanks. I'm trying, it's really hard not to drown in loneliness but I'm trying.
This poem is truly beautiful! I could relate to every word. The title is very well chosen as is the choice of words. The poem is simple but touches the very core of one's heart! An outstanding job! :)

Thankyou so much. Writing is what helps me deal with life. I appreciate your kind words.
Your poems are so relatable, this poem is exactly how I feel! Truly loved this poem. And I love the way you have personified yourself to an outsider. Amazing! I'm really looking forward to read more from you.😊
