A Poem by Jon
"

I thought i'd have a ruck with my writers block - didn't come out great but you should see the other fella ;)

"

This blank page taunts me - haunts me

I stare . . .

Step outside to get some fresh air

If I cannot write then there is no release

There's no other way I can find my own peace

Feel my head spinning, drowning in doubt

Who ever heard of drowning from drought

Grasp for perspective and take a step back

Try to find reason for the words that I lack

If I cannot write its cos I'm not in pain

I think I might just be normal again

Normal is great - I'm back on dry land

Rather than watching that ocean expand

I swam out too far and found i was lost

But I've made it back in spite of the cost

And while it is safe here - so dry and so warm

I think there's a part of me that longs for the storm

Not longing for games or more pain to arrive

Just to dip my toe so I can feel alive.

This drew me in from the first line, and managed to hold my interest. I feel like you captivated the essence of writers block and the relationship between everyday life and a creative outlet. Loved the timing of it too, and the conclusion at the end.

Great write - you have really managed to capture the emotions assoicated with writers block - and all of the passion which makes us write - that conflict between wanting to write but needing action to do so (I hope that makes sense).
I liked the personal tone of this poem - very direct. I think that your opening was fantastic - really attention grabbing. The imagery of the second part was very emotive - the combination of oceans, storms and feeling lost - perfectly captured.
Congrats on this really well written write - some thing very constructive from writers block. Oh and in reply to what you said about my poem - you weren't reading too much into it - it a metaphor - thanks for taking the time to notice and think about it.
