The End

The End

A Poem by tmasse
"

This was definitely interesting when we had to write this in class. the goal was to write a poem about shoes and make it sound like it is talking about death

"

It is near now,

The time to end.

To walk towards the light,

Welcoming and holy.

I feel the pressure,

It bears into my soul

Right through my sole

The light of a shoe store.

For this pair has reached

The end.

The only part i dislike about this is i wish i had not said it was about shoes and that i had left it up for interpretation

This is just so good! I was so convinced that it was about death, but then the clever shift from soul to sole. When I realized that it was about a pair of old shoes, the use of holy also took on that other meaning, as though it was foreshadowing what you were about to do. Love it.

This was awesome! I seriously though this was about death until I got to "The light of the shoe store" and I was starting to get suspicious at "Right through my sole" because you changed the spelling.
