Christmas Memories

A knock on the door,

a package is received

unexpected since it's for me.

Lover from the past

sending a sweet treat to me,

mixed with a bit of love.

Many years ago

my father's favorite treat

for the holidays to be complete.

Only a box of chocolate drops

that bring tears to my eyes,

as memories of my dad, flood my mind.

i have so many pictures of my dad in my mind these days..96 living several states away at my sister's---seeing him a rarity...but always in my thoughts. nice gesture here by the ex...very nice.

I am in my holiday/Christmas mode watching the Christmas movies that bring memories and tears to my eyes, but they are still happy tears. Thank you for stopping by and reading my words and commenting.

I love to do that also. My children roll their eyes at "It's a Wonderful Life" but will not miss "White Christmas" . I cry watching both, but especially the first.

Home Alone has both family and comedy and that's high on my list. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. etc. etc. in addition I find the slap stick comedy of those get my love to watch. Usually due to culture we share limited movies. Merry Christmas to you and your family so I don't forget.

I can see the comedies being easier for her to follow. My family checks all of them out, including Berle Ives as the Snowman in Rudolph. The boys will even watch the Hallmark Channel shows, but under protest. It's fun watching them every year.

PS- hope y'all have a Wonderful Christmas too. Ottos first ankle surgery is on the 14th. Not sure how that is going to work but we will see.

It is for the memories that are in all of us to be visited once again
and warmly shared before being placed away for next year's celebration!

Thank you for reading and commenting on my work. I expect I shed more tear around Christmas than any other time. I was luckier than most and our gatherings with family were always happy times.

I will watch old Christmas movies and a memory flashes across the frontal lobe and I am in tears again. But for the most part happy tears. Merry Christmas my friend.
