And He Called Me "Beautiful"

And He Called Me "Beautiful"

A Poem by Anastasia Purvis

As one door closes, another opens

Every day she’d grown so tired

Of the things that life had thrown at her

And of the sadness she’d endured

Maddening

It may be true that she’d gotten stronger

But she doesn’t want to HAVE to be

All she wants is to be caressed by

The man who loves her and stop this

Insanity

And he called me beautiful

He called me beautiful

There he was standing in front her

She’d seen him many times before

But there was something different

About him this time that allured her

Quivering

He grabbed her and hugged her as if

He hadn’t seen her in a million years

And something in her changed

In that moment her pain went away

Shivering

Then he kissed her, deep and sweet

She could feel it in her toes

Her heart skipped a beat as he stood

And lifted her face in his hands

Sensually

And she had never felt this way before

Unfamiliar territory to tread

As she looked into his eyes, butterflies

Love like a roaring fire spread

Beautiful
