Soul Wound

Soul Wound

A Poem by Stacy Purvis

Your words like daggers
Pierced my spirit today
Like a knife to a tree
Your initials carved on my heart
And forever will stay

For words, unlike daggers
Leave permanent scars on the soul
So I say with the greatest confidence,
One wound will heal but one will stay
Give me a flesh wound any day!
