Do they see

Do they see

A Poem by potato
"

Todays another bad day for me...Trying to let out the pain.

"
She turns
And walks away.
But,
Still she feels their,
Stares.
Pointing at her tattered clothing,
Laughing and holding their noses,
Talking of her tangled hair.
People,
So shallow and ignorant.
They only see,
What is right in front
Of them.
But,
Do they see her cry
Herself to sleep every night?
No.
Do they see the scars
And bruises,
Hidden under her clothes?
No.
Do they see her hidden pain?
No.
They laugh,
Laugh and taunt her.
She hears them,
Hears them day and night,
Along with her screams.
Today,
There was no one to taunt.
Tomorrow their will be no one,
No one to laugh at.
Next week,
There will be no one to smell.
For last night,
She was found dead.
Broken neck,
They said.
Fell down the stairs,
They said.
But,
She was pushed,
pushed after years of beatings.
Did they notice?
No.
Did they realize her life
Was spent in hell?
No.

a terrific write about what amounts to bullying and ignorance. one of my favorite books ("The Little Prince" has an amazing line in it.

“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Pain exists. But people around are just so blind not to see. Nicely written.

I agree with Misery this is very raw. Real.

Raw as a scraped knee, real as a paper cut.
Perhaps they are all too afraid to see because reality reminds them of their own vulnerability.
This poem is a superb bit of inspiration, dear poet.
