Human (?)

Human (?)

A Chapter by Dr. YumnaKay
"

Inspired by Christine Anne Shaw's poem 'Condemned'. Ramblings of a raging mind.

"
I was made
to serve, quiet and silent,
a living body ripped
of its tongue

where certain hellhounds
breathe down the necks
of suppressed females,
petrified, but still

unwillingly willing to please
the so-called men-gods.

I was born
in a world where opinions
and thoughts are stacked
pile upon pile, and while

my inner voices tries to
stretch itself awake sometimes,
only to be dragged back
into a drunken stupor,

but not before I see
salivating mouths, leering
...closing in upon me...

I was made human,
perhaps...

This is the most brilliant thing I've read of yours so far! This is an amazing portrait of this kind of situation . . . even if not dictated by culture at large, here in the USA, there are plenty of males dominating females on a freelance basis. What makes your writing so intense is that you do NOT rant & rave . . . you express yourself in a quietly smoldering way, which would match exactly how such a woman might feel . . . never quite letting it all out, always restrained, incapable of letting go into a full-bore rant. This is exquisite becuz of that tension & contrast between restraint & expression (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

It's a kind of throwback cultural brainwashing, and the pity of it is, (aside from the suffering, mostly in silence, many endure) is how much better our world would be without such prehistoric thinking. I abhor bullies of any persuasion; and that simply put, is the only label their kind deserve. That and a taste of their own medicine; which methinks would soon change such behaviour.

This is well said and all the more powerful for not being just an angry rant.

Beccy.

Telling and painfully real... Sometimes we cannot escape the suffocation of circumstance.. except, perhaps, through our words...
