About Me

My name is April Grace. I am 15 and live in NYC. My whole life I was emotionally tormented by my parents divorce, especially my father. When I was 11 my brother died. It was the first death I had ever witnessed, and will always be the hardest for me to cope with. Thankfully, the year after my adoptive sister and best friend Alice came into my life. She told me her story, about how her dad died in 9/11, and how her mom emotionally tormented her. Alice inspired me from that moment on. She showed me how to be strong, and how to make the past, the past. Living in New York, it is hard to see the clouds or stars in the sky, so when I write, I think about three things. The first thing is a light. I look at that light, imagine where it is coming from, and what its story is. The next thing is Alice. Why? Because Alice is like a light. Always shining bright, visible even in utter darkness. The last thing is a ferris wheel. The ferris wheel represents the story or poem I'm about to write. I get on at the bottom, rise to the climax, and rest there, until I am brought back down to the bottom, and get out. Sometimes this happens quickly, sometime slow. Sometimes the wheel is too high and the ride is frightening, and sometimes, its peaceful and the view is amazing.
