About Me

THE WRITER


Jayanthi Manoj is a Writer, Trainer and Assistant Professor in the PG and Research Department of English, Holy Cross College, Trichy in India. The writer strongly believes in the potentiality of mankind and affirms that solidarity of mankind is essential for survival. She believes that parental love and love in every form is needed for sustenance. As an optimist she foresees a race above disgrace, when the human will is submissive to the Divine power.

Jayanthi Manoj is the pen name of Mary Jayanthi. Her areas of interest include Indian Writing in English and Canadian Literature.

Her anthology of poems entitled SKETCHES: From the pages of my Diary, was published in 2008 by Reliance Publishing House, New Delhi. She is also a trainer in Interview facing skills, Group Dynamics and Communicative Skills cum Soft Skills.

Literary Highlights
•A number of poems, short stories were published in National and International Literary Journals like
The Journal of Indian Writing in English, The Journal of the Poetry Society (India) BRIDGE-IN-MAKING, Creative Writing and Criticism, Poet, Contemporary Vibes, Kohinoor and Katha Kshetre and also in National and International Anthologies DAYSPRING , SECOND ATTEMPT, BLOSSOMS, MILLENNIUM PEACE 2001 and 2002, WritersCafe.org Anthology 2006 and Volume for the
Reese Taylor award for poetry.
•The Poems Stagnation and Voices of Broken Bones were selected as one among the 20 best poems
entered for the Secret Attic Poetry Competition held at United Kingdom in July 2005&August 2006.
•The poem take her home was given a Second Honorary Mention at the Literary Magic Poetry Contest, New York, 2006 . Staff poet of the Literary Magic Magazine, New York.
•My Story won the III prize in the international short story contest conducted by Katholak Akademy of Creativity, Bangalore in Dec 2007.
• Postmortem, dogs and take her home included in VOICES ON THE FOUR WINDS- SARABA'S THIRD (INTERCONTINENTAL) POETRY CHAPBOOK, based in Nigeria, April 2010 with an introduction by
Ms. Verissimo.
•Life Member of Indian Society of Authors (INSA) , New Delhi, International Society of PEN, Begusari, Katholak Akademy of Creativity, Bangalore, India.
Associate Life Member of The Poetry Society of India, New Delhi.
Member of The Asia Pacific Writing Partnership, Australia.
•Talks and conducts workshops on Creative writing and frequently reads Poetry in Literary circles

•Awarded the title ‘Thinking Woman’ in a Reality Show in June 2010 and was among the Top 14 Contestants. Won the Best Performance of the day in the Wild Card talent round for concept based script and performance ‘ Karunai kaviyam’. Scripts entitled ‘Thedal’, ‘Anbin Mozhligal’ and ‘Thaimayin Sangamam’ were highly appreciated.

♦Attended The Writers’ Workshop on Poetry and The Academic Conference held during the Literary festival “Writing the Future” at Sanskriti Foundation and IIT, Delhi organized by Dept. of Humanities & Social Sciences, IIT, Delhi & The Asia Pacific Writing Partnership between 18th – 25th Oct 08.
• Released and reviewed two books entitled ‘Fathers from Hell’ and Women Bared and Dared’ at the Literary Festival conducted by Katha Kshetre Journal on 6th Dec 08 at Gandhi Bhawan, Bangalore.
•Attended the Hyderabad Literary Festival at Hyderabad organized by Muse India, the literary ejournal and OUCIP of Osmania University between 10th and 12th of December 2010. Event partners Sahitya Academy, US Consulate General Hyderabad, Goethe-Zentrum, Alliance Francaise, Dept. of Tourism Hyderabad, Karvy and Access Centre.
