Word Up! Creative Writers Poetry and Essay contest  August 1, 2009 - October 1, 2009

Poetry: Submissions must be a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 3 pages (double spaced font min 12) and no more than 3 pieces of poetry can be entered. Deadline for all submission will October 1st, 2009. All snail mail submissions must be accompanied with SASE if you would like your work returned.

Essay: Submissions must be a minimum of 2 pages with a font size of between 10 and 12. The page limit is 10 pages double spaced. Your essay must be about the challenges you see facing your home, community and nation. We encourage you to include the effect your community leaders are having in your life and community.

Contest winners will be notified no later than November 1st, 2009 and will be rewarded on November 21st, 2009 at the V. O. I. C. E Writer's Conference. Award Ceremony will be at V. O. I. C. E Writer�s Conference Saturday, November 21st, 2009 at the Pullman Plaza Hotel.
