Sonia Nunez

My name is Sonia Nunez, and I'm 21 years old. I'm 100% Dominican, but I was born in New York City. I started writing poetry at the age of 12. My influence, to tell you the truth, was nursery rhymes. I think that's how I learned how to rhyme. My childhood was dark and depressive, so I learned how to speak through my poems. I was always a quite person; very timid. I have 5 sisters and 2 brothers, so it's 8 including me.
I consider myself an all-around creative person. I paint abstract pieces,[currently working on one], I write poetry, I dance, and I love to cook. My whole life has been a struggle but having these talents kind of cradled me through the tough times...and it continues to do so. Poetry..my first love.
