summer-smitten

summer-smitten

A Poem by annie lee

oddly enough summer is gone

a wilted violet or a weary rose

that is summer now

an invitation that was found curled

in the ashes of a cold fire

in a quiet russet wood

where once earth was mad and foolish

and summer went to her head.

now:             autumn

and the world has a hangover.

Thank you, Frieda.
I must pick a bone with you. Maybe I know how to pace myself but I say party-on until New Years Eve. Party on!!!! Another wonderful piece.

Thank you, Pryde.
Wonderful personification here. Summer does seem like a time of overindulgence of nature. We need the change of pace in autumn to keep balance... I enjoyed the imagery in this piece.
