Rebecca

Rebecca

A Poem by Aaron Bedding

If cocaine is as addictive as love I’m glad I chose the latter

Both are cruel and destructive, one is free but both cost us our dignity

Why does it have a devastating hold on you? I’ll never understand your demons

I waited as long as I could maybe I was weak; I fought as long as I could and now I’m incomplete

I waited for so long it became a game that you always knew you would win

You’re still winning now, F**k it was a good year though

In time you will remember who you are but first you must remember you are lost

The road will be long and dark sometimes you won’t be able to see the light they will come for you again and again

For now I will remember the good times the moments when time seemed to accelerate there was never enough

You have damaged your spark but don’t fear it will burn bright again
