Death was Coming

Death was Coming

A Poem by Phantom Heart

Death was on his way.
Everyone knew he was coming.
All the people were scared.
They tried to find strength together.
He was coming to visit.

Women held their children tight.
All the men stood by their wives.
Shear terror held everyone spellbound.

Couples embraced each other.
Only the children didn’t understand.
Morning was coming, but too slowly.
It was terrible waiting there.
Nobody dared to breathe.
God help them all.

I like the way you took something abstract and made it very concrete.
