A reflective American dreamer and his new trophy-wife inspired to write fanfiction diary of a magical darkness.

"
A fun and magical fanfiction adaptation inspired by the iconic Gift of the Magi which was supposedly written in Pete's Tavern (New York), an American place of certain dollar-proportions. Enjoy (and Happy Oscar night, America!),

In a fancy LA loft lived a handsome Algerian-American architect named Hammond who'd lived for years growing up as a boy in Algeria as a street pickpocket. Hammond was now settled as an established building designer for wealthy investors/clients who're looking for jewel designs for their LA homes and apartments and office complexes. Hammond himself now lived in a rather nice LA loft and considered his life very American and very ideal!

HAMMOND: I consider my life very handsome and ideal, and I'm happy because of a special secret, which I write about now!

You see, Hammond was wealthy now and had a very nice car parked in the garage of his loft-building. This million-dollar auto is something Hammond, a person grown as a street-picker in Algeria, was proud of and moved him to write a special story about the Gift of the Magi. He's so grateful for his fortune that he wanted to construct a fanfiction in honor of the legendary story about a young married couple who found unusual magic despite poverty and misplaced Christmas gifts, an iconic symbol of capitalism and enchantment.

Hammond decided to fly to New York that Christmas and visit Pete's Tavern where the Gift of the Magi story was supposedly written itself. Hammond sat down and ordered New England Clam Chowder with bacon. He sat and relished the soup and thought of the inspiration that moved the writer to make Gift of the Magi at Pete's Tavern in New York. Just then, a beautiful Algerian-looking woman walked into the tavern, wearing a very nice Eastern women's saree-dress.

HAMMOND: You're so beautiful!
CAMERON: I'm not from Algeria, Hammond.
HAMMOND: Yes, but you're beautiful!
CAMERON: Well...you sound...wealthy.
HAMMOND: That I am, fair lady!
CAMERON: This may be the start of something unusual, Hammond.

Hammond and Cameron returned to LA and got married. They had a son named Damian for whom Hammond purchased many vintage 1980s capitalism-iconic robot toys, signifying a special enchantment with capitalism itself. Hammond wanted Damian to absorb all the current gratefulness he felt with all his life-fortune and marriage and love and bought him toys signifying this special romance with life in America.

However, Hammond had still not written his special magical Gift of the Magi fanfiction which he was to write when he'd first went to New York to visit Pete's Tavern to get the right inspiration. Meeting his future wife had sidetracked his imagination-life and made him forget about this special goal. Now, Hammond was suddenly back-on-track and thinking about the quality of the Gift of the Magi and the importance of writing a fanfiction to capture the optimism his own life's fortunes had afforded him. He started drawing a villain-rendition of himself, an evil architect ungrateful for his life's various luck. This avatar would serve as the special antihero for his fanfiction of Gift of the Magi.

Hammond took Cameron back to New York to visit Pete's Tavern where they might spend some time and eat some local foods and get inspiration for Gift of the Magi now that their son Damian was in private-school, Stuyvesant-Magnet in NY. Hammond/Cameron enjoyed Deviled Ham sandwiches at Pete's Tavern and started imagining themselves as the characters, spun of course, from Gift of the Magi.

HAMMOND: These ham-sandwiches are tasty as hell!
CAMERON: We're very lucky to be here, Hammond.

Hammond and Cameron began working together on their Gift of the Magi fanfiction. Hammond imagined himself spun as a villainous antihero rendition of himself, a grumbling wealthy American entrepreneur who's not grateful for his life's fortunes. His alter-wife Cameron is likewise a snooty brat who is bragging about her wealth with him. When the two lose all their money in the NYSE, they decide to spend Christmas in utter humility, and Hammond has no choice but to use the very little pockety-money he now has to buy Cameron a Christmastime magic gift, and she does likewise with her poor money for him, a small vintage tape-player/radio (handheld) from eBay.

Hammond buys Cameron a nifty vintage unused antique gold comb set from the Victorian Era off eBay. When the two learn they both bought presents off eBay, after communicating on a public forum with their merchant groups online, they giggle and suddenly feel strange magic at the notion of shared discovered 'circles' of charm in capitalism and society despite forced poverty, poverty that changes the soul.

HAMMOND: Let's enjoy this Christmas in the arms of inspiration.
CAMERON: You're so much...diviner, Hammond!

When Hammond writes and sells his Gift of the Magi fanfiction to a New York pulp magazine for amateur writers, it's seen by a professional editor/publisher named Tom Cruise who presents the unusual fanfiction to a movie-studio which then is interested in adapting the story into a major motion-picture. Steven Saarsgard is cast as the once-villainous Hammond, and he proves to be the perfect prototypical Scrooge.

Kate Saturday is cast as Hammond's Magi-wife Cameron. The film, directed by Wes Andersen, is called Magi of My Love and is released limited spacing in NY and LA for the following Christmas and is nominated by Sundance. Hammond/Cameron revel in this newfound glory and spotlight for their shared experience with Christmastime capitalism drawings.

HAMMOND: The Gift of the Magi gave us...design!
CAMERON: Let's go watch that Sundance film on Netflix, Hammond.
