Hands in the Fire

Hands in the Fire

A Poem by Adam
"

theoretical

"

I wish love was like fire.

You can get close to fire,

and in the four seconds

before you feel the burn

you experience a power

unparalleled by anything

save that of being loved.

Fire will keep you warm,

because it is hopelessly

incapable of being cold.

And no matter how many

times you get burned you

will only want it more.

Until you are completely

consumed by fiery hurt.

I guess fire is like love,

just much less painful.

Nice write, friend. This is a nice comparison, a well expressed description of what love can be like. I only have one suggestion, your poem isn't very long, and "fire" appears several times. You might think of shaking it up a bit, changing your descriptors so that word does not become distracting. Cheers!

My favorite of your poems, the most meaningful at least.
