Everyday Love

Everyday Love

A Poem by Ahmad Cox

Everyday Love

I think sometimes
We tend to get swept up
In the romantic love
In the grand
Sweeping
Drunken love
I think that we
Should
Be paying
Attention
To the everyday love
The love of a friend
The love of yourself
The love of where
You are at in life
Love for your neighbor
Love for the Earth
Love for our father
Love for one another
Loving a stranger
Loving each second
Each moment
Loving each new day
Each new breathe
The everyday love
Can overwhelm us
Can sweep over us
Filling us
In a great big wave
Of peace
Loving every bit of yourself
A little more each day
Loving life
A little more each day
And sharing that
Everyday type of love
With others as well
