A Poem by Akinli Wilde

The question is
would you help
a screaming person
if you had to work.
Most would say no,
they aren't as important.
But what if it
was you?
No one would help you.
Screaming out
all will to live
gone.
Being pushed,
under the surface
farther and farther.
Until not even the rustle of a leaf
settling,
could penetrate
your vacant state.
Sad for your loss,
people gather around.
Not realizing
they could have saved you.
They chose ignorance
over attentiveness.
Let you slip
like water through their fingers
gone
in the blink of an eye.
