A Poem by Aleyah

Take the stars that shined above us
On that cold and broken night
And tell them they were wrong
Just because you'd like.

Take your memories,
Take your lies,
Take your laugh

That used to make me smile.

Take the sunset that we watched

on that specious, tempting day

Take the looks and expression,

Take the kiss you never gave.

Take all the moments that we shared,

Take it all away,

And tell me, do you miss me?

Or do you wish I had stayed?

Take that morning in July,

When you stared across the room,

and knew exactly how I felt,

but didn't care to move.

Take the small thoughts that you mentioned,

And take a deep breath in,

because you are going out,

the same way you came in.

Take those hours from those afternoons

when you didn't stop to say hello,

Look at yourself and ponder

How I felt as you stooped below

Less than half of what I expected

Just from what I gave

All the secrets that I kept,

The promises you never saved.

Think about what you did,

How you left me on the curb,

What made you think I was ready,

for something I didn't deserve?

Take your thoughts of you and I

And throw them all away

Because now,

I am leaving you at bay

saying, I barely remember you

And everything you said,

All those empty sentences

Are shriveled up and dead.

A dusty picture is on my mind,

A picture of the night,

A picture of when you held me close,

and all deceit was out of sight.

Just so suddenly you are gone,

Quickly, without ado

now I'm just a photograph,

A me without a you.

Like was mentioned, this is definitely worth a thousand words just like a photograph. Truly meaningful, and nice flow. Good poem! You did have a typo in the 8th stanza: "What 'mad' you think I was ready" should be 'made'. But other than that it's good ;)
