Lessons Learned

Lessons Learned

A Poem by Allyson Wolfe

The leaves will dance upon the trees,

swaying softly in the breeze.

Memories are just a tease,

the leaves did dance upon the trees.

The wolves will howl in the night,

little children may take fright,

memories fade from my sight,

The wolves will howl in the night.

I stare at the leaves of willows,

softly now they start to billow,

dreams now lie upon my pillow.

Softly dance the leaves of willow.

Chirping softly; hear the birds,

their beaks now open, forming words.

Dreams infrequent, memories blurred.

Chirping softly; hear the birds.

Now I lay me, down to sleep.

I pray that you my heart do keep,

souls awoken, love will leap,

now that I awake from sleep.

Lessons learned from the leaves,

rustles now but howls weave

within the noises of the trees.

It started all with dancing leaves.
