Muses

Muses

A Poem by Amanda Marie
"

These are three of the nine muses in Greek Mythology

"

Thalia is with me today

Deity of my creation

Her mask

The strength to survive

Fastened firm I am untouchable

I am immune to even myself

Laughter that deceives

Illusion of a load-bearer

So they cast upon me

Until I am undone

Melpomene is with me today

Deity of my destruction

Her mask

Honesties I dare not show

Hidden behind but still visible

The world will know my mind

Today I cannot deceive

Impressions of the weight appear

Bruising under the pressure

They see I am undone

Calliope is with me today

Deity of my choice

Her mask

Solely of my own creation

To be defined at my whim

Devine with purpose I march on

Existing within the haze of deception

Burdened with only my goals

I rise to the climax of an epic

Never to be undone.
