Watching the news makes me mad

The whole system  was designed to keep us from rocking,

Putting pills in our mouths to keep us form talking.

The debt ceiling is rising and there's no stopping,

You from punching the clock to stop its tick tocking.

We dropped our defenses why are they still blocking?

Paradise is closed and the gates are locking,

Destroying the Mecca yet we're still flocking.

The road back form extinction is long so start walking.

Sticks stuck to our backs, strings swinging in our face

Following the bait through this warped rat race.

But what substance leads, is it nicotine or speed?

Ripple effects in our chemistry like you wouldn’t believe.

Serotonin is up, but dopamine’s not down,

I didn’t read the prescription, I guess it’s too late now.

If you’re not mad you’re not paying attention,

But this man-made ADHD is affecting my retention.

 

Oppression or asthma, either way I couldn’t breathe,

Gasping for air under all this misplaced authority.

Dumping chemicals into our kids and onto the ground,

And we ask why the Lorax is no longer around.

He’s up in the arctic with islands of trash,

Or maybe back in the senate trading votes in for cash.

How can we tell when it’s time to fight back,

When we didn’t know we were under attack?

How many countries are pointing missiles at the states?

Watching this spectacle we call “the Debates”

My dad reminds me of the men that died for my vote,

But not if the 13^th amendment gets revoked.

How can we expect to perfect the concept of democracy

When we don’t even care about the things our children eat

Way too late to be more like the EuroZone

But we can’t even hear each other on our free Vodaphones

Conspiracy theories about political deep pockets

Sinking into the gap, but how do we stop it?

Like the civilizations before us that burned

Its time for the bipartisanship to learn.
