The Hermit

The Hermit

A Poem by Amanda Marie
"

Wrote this about someone I wanted to know, but never got the chance to.

"

Come on Cameron, did you see me?

I stood there silently wishing that I were pretty.

Why did you stay home?

From the bar we called you phone, but you’d rather drink alone

Why did you stay home?

Would you say this is a place you’d call home?

Come on Darling, what’s you story?

You make it sound like film noir a scene most gory

Why do you refuse to try?

Just let their cruel words go and let the liquor touch your toes

Wipe away those sad eyes

Seeing them searching for a home will make me cry.

I didn’t know how much people could change

Until we grew apart

We get old, we grow cold

And the world looks different with a broken heart

I would have loved to known you

Before you lost the good fight

To be your Stella Polaris

In your dark raven nights

I guess in the middle of the page

Is a bad place to start

I didn’t know how much people could change

Until we grew apart

Come on Cameron, don’t be afraid.

Thank of all the times you’ve asked to be saved

What does it all mean?

They say that God is love, but they’re both gone so life’s been rough

It’s all a staged scene.

Not to sound ungrateful now, but what’s it all mean?

Come on Darling, did you miss me?

Aren’t you excited to see me home form the city?

No, I guess not, right?

The way that you fled, like I was the monster under your bed,

No it doesn’t seem right.

Maybe it was better you stayed home last night.

I didn’t know how much people could change

Until we grew apart

We get old, we grow cold

And the world looks different with a broken heart

I would have loved to known you

Before you lost the good fight

To be your Stella Polaris

In your dark raven nights

I guess in the middle of the page

Is a bad place to start

I didn’t know how much people could change

Until we grew apart

Is it because you’re feeling weak?

I won’t apologize or being strong.

Maybe you’ve been out in the cold too long.

I didn’t know how much people could change

Until we grew apart

We get old, we grow cold

And the world looks different with a broken heart

I would have loved to known you

Before you lost the good fight

To be your Stella Polaris

In your dark raven nights

I guess in the middle of the page

Is a bad place to start

I didn’t know how much people could change

Until we grew apart
