Girl Named Fate

Girl Named Fate

A Poem by Amanda Marie
"

Missing my friend... and listening to a lot of Simone White...

"
Oh the milestones grow heavy
I can barely lift them up
I beg them to slow down
But instead they’re speeding up

With no one to stand and help me
Blow the candles out on the cake
Instead I have to settle
For the new girl named Fate

'Cause I will wither and decay
With every passing day
Starting to loose sight
Of my sense of fun
'Cause you are beautiful and bold
And you’ll never suffer old
I know you will stay
Like this, forever young.

Yes I know that its pretentious
To pretend that I could choose
In jaded ways I’m happy
That youth was mine to loose

On a printed piece of paper
I carry you around
And if I imagine hard enough
Your voice still has a sound

'Cause I will wither and decay
With every passing day
Starting to loose sight
Of my sense of fun
'Cause you are beautiful and bold
And you’ll never suffer old
I know you will stay
Like this, forever young.

And I promise to come see you
When I find myself back home
And sit down right beside you
So you're not alone

And I'll bring you wildflowers
The prettiest I can find
Until I have to make my way
And leave you behind

You are clearly very clever in your choice of words. This poem tells two stories to me. One that was unfairly cut short, and the other slowly withering. Beautiful job, I loved this.

Thank you Ashira Macy.
Your poem feels so familiar...like an old dear friend...strange how time can transcend in a paradigm shift when I read a very good poem...it's like drug...the head rush...and the high...your poem brought me there. Nicely done.
