![]() Forever EndearingA Poem by Amanda Marie![]() Sometimes there are people we were meant to loose again and again.![]() Fondness in his face Brown-eyed sentinel so calm Quick wit caught in his throat Sorrow exposed, covered in faint song Heart-wrenching but not a good-bye Laughed softly in broad daylight On-lookers will never see That somehow he always knew How to perfectly juxtapose me Hands that haven’t touched Since I pushed him away To soar, and dream, and fly Unburdened reach his heights A final kiss at the door That I will stay behind And watch as he gets on the plane Boots laced, straight-faced Purposefully not watching the time So he left Behind a final thought But took all the bright colors with him Every one that makes a sunrise Pastel and gentle hues And left me with the violets Dark jades and deep maroons With snakes, and shields, and spiders That I would never be alone Uncomfortable and hungry So I couldn’t call this place my home Last words to me Sitting heavy in my ear Things you didn’t know I needed to hear As you quickly walked away Slyly wiping your face You gave me another tender moment And I will carry it as I do Your kiss on my cheek The cross on my neck Dreams in my pocket That I will protect Said that love is light Guiding us in the dark So this candle I burn do not misconstrued I don't hold it for you Illuminate a way You won’t use to come back To ward off monsters Who’ve already attacked But that I will find my own Undiscovered path. That yes, I am a lantern With a burning light inside The glass is smooth but dingy The wind may knock me over But there are those moments when I do shine That I don’t need someone to hold me Show me the path that was already mine. Maybe I will just sit here a while Purposefully not watching the time. So I sit here in the stillness No burden by my side The solitude empowering No room for lies to hide And should that lover find me The one whose touch brand new Finds me as a better version The thanks will go to you
