![]() Absent in AutumnA Poem by Amanda Marie
You won’t hear from me past August
No affections in the fall I’m sorry I couldn’t keep my promise But I’m not sorry I loved at all And you won’t find me in September When the sun is turning cold Doesn’t mean I don’t remember It just means I’m getting too old You won’t hold me in October When the leaves begin to change No Dear John letter to say its over You just know I'm not that way So you get on your plane Fly towards that eastern star And while you’re on your way Just know I’m not that far 'Cause we were made just like the seasons We were always meant to change But just because I'm not there with you Doesn't mean I am estranged Please don't wait for me come November And the things that should have been Drift back to times so new and tender When the foreign fog wears thin No thoughtful presents in December Sending intentions in the mail Fire faded down to graceful embers So my words will never fail No birthday gifts in January Aging again just for fun You think it's all to be contrary But really I'm just done. So you get on your plane Fly towards that eastern star And while you’re on your way Just know I’m not that far 'Cause we were made just like the seasons We were always meant to change But just because I'm not there with you Doesn't mean I am estranged © 2016 Amanda MarieAuthor's Note
