They Come

They Come

A Poem by April Child

I see them them come

from all directions

black dots

trickle

into a tide

I want to stand in front

push them away

shout “stop”

“no, don’t come”

“it’s a mistake”

“he’s not dead”

but still they come.

beautiful and heartbreaking share. i think the amazing thing about this piece is that you really convey that sense of disconnect from people. that ultimate lonliness and futile anger against ritual and how life goes on.

that didn't come out very eloquently but i think you get what i mean.

thank you for sharing.

Oh babe...Your heart is still breaking, and I have nothing to comfort you with, except you are still loved, I'm certain of that.

Wonderful! So precise and meaningful it is! It says a lot about the bereavement of the person who cannot believe the exodus could not be prevented. I like it.

Thanks.
