Your skin will crawl

with the remnants of betrayal.

The ghost of once found love

will whisper in your ear.

You're not quite sure,

how you wound up here.

The phantom of your soul

will leave you breathless and wasted.

Writhing in pain.

Begging for a divine intervention.

Welcome to the Haunted Mansion.

It only exists in your head.

The place where your heart

is nothing but dead.

I love the dark only because the emotions are so much stronger in expression and i like a haunting betrayal of love. short sharp to the point poem . nice work and you want to read more. Where's part two!

I'm not sure where to begin. Really, I'm at a loss here. This is by far my favorite of yours. I'm at a loss, because there is so much feeling here. I'm learning the mechanics of writing poetry, so I dare not comment on that. How this piece makes me feel though, is quite another story. Again, I say, GREAT JOB. It's such an emotional release to be able to put words like these on paper, and another to be able to read and relate.

Thank you. I'm sure my mechanics or approach or whatever, is probably wrong, but honestly I could care less. I write because I have a need to express my hurt, my happiness, my pride, my pain, etc. However, I'm glad you liked it. It's definitely one of my favorites...

I apologize, I didn't mean to imply the mechanics were wrong, just that that is why I pretty much comment on the feeling and the read of it. I'm with you as well, about the mechanics. I write to release what I feel. If I ever get a chance to publish something, that's what I need an editor for? lol...I am working on the mechanics though :-)

It's like a pure Cathedral that's been blackened by heartache and now a Haunted Mansion resides within the mind. Betrayal's imprint is left on the skin for quite some time. The recollections make the skin crawl and blood boil. This piece fills my mind with a ton of monochromatic, Gothic style imagery and I love it! Thank you for sharing with me my friend!

Exactly the imagery I was going for! Yes! Lol. I'm not "Gothic" per se, but honestly I feel you can't place a label on me. I have a bit of everything in my heart.. Anyways, my point is, Gothic imagery has always intrigued me and when I get the idea to write this, it just came out this way. I'm glad you liked it!

Love the metaphorical use of the haunted house. I love the last stanza which for me describes where heartache really lies most of the time, in our heads because we can't or won't let it go. Nice write.
