A Restless Mind of 19

A Restless Mind of 19

A Poem by The Last Poetic King
"

poem

"
Sitting, comprehending, just wasting time
Remembering everything that was said was just a lie
Time after time, just trying to get it right
But who am I?

They call me the forgotten son,
The one that never existed
But I smile with the rising sun

Slowly with the tip of glass to lips
Silently I, I ponder the meaning of this
Who was it? Who did this?
Why do such things exist?!
Should I be amended of this?
Is there something that needs fixed?

Everything fades out,
The reality around these eyes; nothing, but a murky surrounding
Blends of blue and black,
Such a golden elixir to take the mind back
Before one had to worry about another anxiety attack

A slow drag off this lined cigarette,
Just trying to ease this mind of all the regret
Your eyes plague the mind like a ghost defeating the bounds of time,
And they say this is the best way to unwind

The bitter residue lingers on frail lips,
Shaking slightly a hand grasps the glass
Taken back, with one quick swallow
Another drink to erase what was,
Another inhale to embrace what is

And time after time of trying,
always to remember & never forget
The memories that trouble,
A restless mind of 19.
