No Change

No Change

A Poem by The Last Poetic King

A man sits down with a half empty glass,
Melodies playing that take him back to those long forgotten days.
He saw what most never could see,
Felt the pain of a thousand dying children
And deep inside his heart's screaming

Why oh why can't the world change?

Now you see why he drinks,
He pours himself another glass
And tips the cold liquid back against his lips
His heart sinks and he finds himself inside of a world
So dark and gray, the rain will never end
And these kids will never know what its like to not know pain
If you could only see the pain painted with lines on his face

He's just seeking harmony to this heart's melody of sorrow.
Who else is there to blame? Things will never be the same.

With another drink from his glass,
He smoke's a cigarette, a pack gone in a day
The sun slowing goes down and he feels the alcohol wash over
Finding himself in a world with no change.
No matter what they say, you can't drink away the pain.

He's just seeking harmony to this heart's melody of sorrow.
Who else is there to blame? Things will never be the same.
