Fly Me to the Moon

Fly Me to the Moon

A Poem by Ashira Macy
"

And let me play among the stars...

"

As we gazed up at the stars that night

Feeling the light mist caressing our faces

I smiled at you and sang “Fly Me to the Moon.”

“No,” you countered as you clasped my hand in yours

And rocketed us into the darkened sky.

I marveled in wonder as we passed the Moon

Her pale face beaming at us in knowing.

Your lips brushed against mine as we drifted past Mars -

His blush deepening as we bid him farewell

And Jupiter winked his crimson eye.

But at Saturn we halted and you bowed to me,

You twirled me and hummed a waltz

As we danced across her graceful rings.

With a strike of teal lightning

She cried happy tears of crystalline carbon

Glittering bright in their mother’s radiance.

We halted in wonder as the jewels fell around us

In slow, gentle showers of precious stone,

Tickling our faces and adorning our hair.

Then one fell to my finger and there it stayed,

You looked at me with a gleam in your eye and proclaimed,

“She says you should marry me.”

My favorite piece of imagery is, "And Jupiter winked his crimson eye". Gah, even though the narrator and their lover are in space, there isn't much distance between them;P I've loved this song for such a long time and your poem definitely served it justice. Now I believe that I'll be imagining the descriptions in your poem whenever I hear it again, giving the song even more meaning!

Thank you Ty, I do too!
I've been accused of being a romantic at heart, but you're a romantic through and through. Any journey through our solar system brings out the romance and Saturn, that maker of gems, inspires.

Your lines fill the mind with an ecstatic journey across wondrous moments that reflect the commitment that ring signifies. What a wonderful audience for such a beautiful moment.

Thank lioness, glad you liked it!
"Starry night he,luch bhi bright he,kiss- wiss karle we,yu ki fight he"... ha . This was a li'l line from my native tongue.. meaning the sky is starry, our mood is turned on... so baby kiss me with fervour unknown. Well i loved this piece.Going to my library. The vivid imagery created here forces me to jump towards the sky,but uhhhuunn..! I am a mere human :p..Jokes apart.. This was blindingly dreamy and took me to wonderland.. Well done Ashira.

Thanks Yuki! Glad you enjoyed it!
A starry sky always seems to lend itself to romance, but you've upped the ante here and taken us on a romantic journey through the cosmos...you really nailed the visual aspects of each planet...a person unfamiliar with them would come away from this poem able to easily visualize them in their mind...nicely done :)
