The Midnight Kingdom

A peek into the Midnight Kingdom,
where a teen girl rules with ring,
royal blue eyes and a crooked smile,
and a charmed voice meant to sing,

her parents murdered before her eyes,
left an inheritance and a mental scar,
foster care to foster care,
and three winters in a car,

she rules over the Midnight Kingdom,
half imagination turned real,
a way to take the numbness away,
an outlook to somehow feel,

I see the popularity on her face,
at high school and on the streets,
but look past that dazzling smile,
her eyes bright but beat,

yeah she rules over the midnight kingdom,
with a cruel and betrayed hand,
she's seen it all- she took that fall,
her mind is now the land

A story... About a girl... A girl who appears in the mirror every morning... I am two people...

Very nicely done ! It isn't very often I come across good poetry that RYHMES. I know, there are a substantial number of great poets who do not ... but then, what is poetry if it is not ?
