Southtown

Southtown

A Chapter by Double T

Welcome to the Southtown

The Latino Farm of God’s children

The rugged factory of the gospel

The sidewalk is the kid play zone

The streets are the skateboard zone of teens

The gospel is spread in English and Spanish

The day is fine

High and bright

But at dawn,

The night is hostile

Dark and gloomy

Gangbangers shot for war

Prostitutes roam like cattle

Dope is spreading in a plaque

Bodies are found in allies or streets

Youth are dropping like flies

If it’s a light of blue and red at your window,

That means it’s the police knocking at your door

The night is the age of darkness

While the darkness spreads

The light shines

The light of the savior

The savior of peace and love

The light still shines in darkness

Here in the Southtown

The day shines

The night glooms

But the light still shines
