Little Girl's Favor

Little Girl's Favor

A Poem by Silly_Clumsy_Amber
"

This is for my dad, who when I was little would sing me bed time songs to help me go to sleep.

"

When I was a little girl
You would come in at night to check on my smile's curl.
Leaning down, you tucked me in my bed
Just before pressing your lips to my head.
I'd open my eyes and look back at you
Asking the favor of being sung too.
You would smile in reply and start a song
That I knew the lyrics were never wrong.

There was a series of ones that you sang
And each of them kept me away from the grave.
The nights of "Butterfly Kisses"
Were my favorite ones that helped me with my wishes.
Other nights, I never would ask the butterfly on how it got it's wings
But that thought kept me away from life's stings.
Then right before I closed my eyes, you told me I was your sunshine
And hearing those lyrics, made my heart feast and dine.

The lyrics became part of a little girl's favor
And each phrase made you become my savior.
For when I was little, you were the singing superman
That showed me how you were able to understand.
The good night songs you shared with me
Became this little girl's favor to create glee.

It was all just love mixed with a little girl's favor.
