Whiskey Grave

Whiskey Grave

A Poem by Babbette Francis
"

Poetry that was put to music by a friend. Not a full length song.

"

Nighttime falls, a lonely darkness

our room is bare now that you’re gone.

My broken heart has since then shattered,

with the carving of your name on the stone.

And I will sleep by that whiskey bottle

and I will dream of better days

but should I die by that whiskey bottle

I’ll find my peace within my grave.

Of sound mind, I sit in silence,

My calm has long since gone

I lone to be by your side now,

carve my name upon the stone.

And I will sleep by that whiskey bottle

and I will dream of better days

but should I die by that whiskey bottle

I’ll find my peace within my grave.

This poem sears the heart and soul Bab (Can I call you Bab?) it is just so sharp that it cuts through the normal poetic fog and hurts me in the same place it hurts you ... but no where nearly so much. There are a few places that I suspect that you meant to put stops, but those minor nicks have no chance of detracting.

This goes into my favorites.

A poignant expression of loss. The sun is always shining even when lingering beyond the clouds.

Nicely done...
