Burning soul

Burning soul

A Poem by Balkaran Sidhu
"

Can tears put off the fire burning in the soul..?

"
In the mirror I see
the guilt on my face
The flames of neglect scorches my eyes
And the heat of my burns
conflagrates states of conflictions
Inflicting afflictions
I am consumed by the fire of my promises,my vows
wretched in my lucid insanity

Smoldering aspects of my mortality
Clutches onto my lonely heart
Only sinks me further
into the labyrinth of uncertainty
I have been searching the shore of certainty
in this drowning world
Only to Spark inner confusions & incinerating accord
Precisely savage memories
bring me to down to ashes
and my dead and dry dreams
so much ignitable.

Through clouds of vexation
my eyes cannot see far
Veiled by the darkened fumes of disharmony
Visibly, I see myself dying
But I am lying to the universe
While behind smokescreens of “well-being” I hide..

Deep into my retinas
somewhere in my vision
the flame in my eyes could be seen
coming from my burning soul
something that tears can put off...?

Author's Note

Balkaran Sidhu
When your soul burns...you're on fire at the metaphysical level...it's like being consumed by desire, only instead of desire, it could be the intense heat of guilt or some loss...or......

I love this poem! The use of figuritive languange you used throughout the whole thing to show that you can never judge a person by their cover was truly awesome. And I don't through that word around loosely. I mean to say that this poem is overwhelming, awe-inspired, tremendous, amazing, astounding, incredible, deep, wonderful, excellent, fabulous, fantastic, marvelous, stupendous. That kind of awesome. I was hooked at the first stanza, the first line! Don't ever stop writing.

I think it's obvious that I give you 100/100.

The heat is felt.... this is intensity magnified! I can feel the self loathing, the self hatred burns within the reflection of the mirror. You have expressed this well. A great write, indeed!

this one gotta be my favorite piece by you.the angst is tangible and the language is consuming.the bland rendition of the words have the desired effect-make you think hard, reflect and regret.great great job.

Oh I am humbled....thank you very much..
Deeply dark, and eloquently written. This is relatable to a majority. I also agree with your author's note. I feel that if one feels the 'burning' it is guilt being melted away. For if one doesn't feel the 'fire at the metaphysical level' then it seems as if they believe they have nothing to by guilty for.... Again, amazingly written. You seem to have a penchant for choosing the right words that will hit the heart and soul hardest. I loved this poem, amazing write.

This is really intense and true. Getting consumed by your own flame is more harsher than even facing your own mortality. Great work...keep writing.
