Limbo " Chapter 1 " Draft 1

His fur glistened like mother-of-pearl in dancing candle light as the white tiger guardian of limbo made his rounds checking on those that had recently past into the next life. The occasional person broke into hysterics - and with a gentle nudge and a melodic purr he would set their mind at ease - whilst others came to terms with it more quickly. He suddenly came upon a fallen child no more then three days old. He let forth a mighty roar as the child’s death played past his mind’s eye:

He lay cuddled into his sky-blue blanket within a cane weave basket sleeping soundly as newborns never do when all of a sudden a shadow looms over him and a sinister voice echoes ever so lightly

“Two birds with one stone! My master can claim this child and I can claim his throne” all of a sudden a soft pain growing rapidly as the shadow leaves then all consuming darkness.

Then sound… the child was crying, calling its mother who was mourning his death. He purred deep and rumbling lulling the child to sleep. He carefully lifted the infant in his mouth

“Nacre” called the guardian of heaven sounding as if she were only metres away but further away then could be measured “What do you think you are doing”

“I’m claiming him as mine! Indigo” he said matter of factly responding mentally just as she called him

“You’re adopting him?” she asked shocked

“Yes” he said shortly

“That’s-” she began

“Leave him Indigo” said the guardian of Meira

“We can’t allow this Jet” said indigo sternly

“Indigo you didn’t feel what I just felt so keep your beak out of it. And jet thank you for your support as always old friend. But unless you can kill the - ” he swallowed hard “Mother-f****r! Who did this? Keep out of it too. Same to you Crim” all he saw was a brief glimpse of the crimson dragons head bop in the affirmative before the phoenix of heaven’s voice sounded again

“Sweet mother-of-pearl I don’t think I have ever heard you swear Nacre!”

“He doesn’t” said Jet shock clear on his telepathic voice “Best of luck old friend” and he was gone

“We will hold council tonight Indigo you can blast me in person ok?” he said placing the child at the base of the tree he called home. It was a giant bonsai tree with a trunk as thick as ancient oak and branches and limbs to match

“You’re a fool Nacre,” said the phoenix lovingly “A white furred fool but I do love you”

“You forgot the stripes” he said playfully his grin showing through his telepathic words. She blew him a telepathic kiss and was gone.
