A THOUGHT AWAY

No matter how dark times may seem to appear
Or how desperate and tempted I am to fear
My spirit, it shall never be able to breach
Because solace is always within my reach
 
Misery and sorrow I effortlessly cast aside
Giving them no place where they can hide
For I draw strength letting my memory play
Because you are always just a thought away
 
Like pitching a coin into a wishing well
I think of you and feelings of hope swell
I am never alone with you there in my mind
Giving trust, faith and friendship in kind

Were it mine there would be a long list of repentance needed doing along the journey but I am getting on in years and my body complain's with all movement. Here is a copy of the epitaph I wrote for myself when I was 28 and took a hard look at my life at that point. A lady friend and I had just moved in together and I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. I know it is strange that one should be thinking of death just then but I have always be considered strange :~)
EPITAPH
Forgive me for I am a fool of fools
Apparently not one of Gods working tools
Oh so many are my fears
Often reflected by my many tears
I've never been what people wanted to see
But that has always been me
My brothers are no better than I
But oh so hard I must try
Strike me down for all my wrongs
And let the blame fall where it belongs
Help me lord my will to bend
And please prevent a bitter end

I feel honored that you shared this with me. You do not become a man like you are by not moving in the direction you moved. Unawarely, everyone wants to be God for He is symbol of power, but it takes skill to learn to be a human. It is only then when one becomes powerful. You were living your life to the best of your capabilities at given time. Every person learns through their life despite their desire or will to learn. A person like you who invests in himself learns a lot more. Sooner or later, we become our lifestyle. You did great.

It is a real blessing if one has solace within reach. To have a person or even a memory that can drive out every sickening thing, one must be a blessed one. Very nice word play. I loved the whole thought especially the last stanza is cute.
